The Alluroididae is a small oligochaete family with 8 genera and 13 known species occurring in freshwaters and in riverine soils in Africa, the Caribbean and Central and South America. It is here argued that their anatomy shows a transition from that of microdriles to that of megadriles (Metagynophora). A detailed description of comparative anatomy is given, followed by the systematics and some aspects of the ecology of all known genera, species and subspecies.

A switch study was conducted to compare T-cell subset quantification performed by a research laboratory and a diagnostic, laboratory to understand the impact on the retrospective and prospective results of a long-term study.
Methods: Using FACSCanto II Flow Cytometers, EDTA anticoagulated peripheral blood from 73 males enrolled in the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study/Women Interagency HIV Combined Cohort Study was analyzed by both a research (laboratory 1) and a diagnostics laboratory (laboratory 2) for quantification of cluster of differentiation (CD)3, CD4, and CD8 T-cells.
Parenting behaviors play an important role in the transmission of depressive symptoms from mothers to children. Although reduced positive affect is a central feature of depression, models of intergenerational transmission have neglected maternal socialization of positive affect as a mediating mechanism. This study investigated whether maternal responses to infant positive affect mediate the link between mothers' and toddlers' depressive symptoms.

In this study, we analyzed the DNA methylation profiles of PLWH ( = 187) shortly before and approximately 2-3 years after they started HAART, as well as matched seronegative (SN) controls ( = 187), taken at two time intervals. Our aim was to identify specific CpGs and biologic pathways associated with HIV infection and initiation of HAART.
