Bartholin gland cyst in a transgender male: case report of a rare occurrence.

This case report highlights the importance of a wide differential diagnosis in transgender patients. A 77-year-old transgender (female-to-male) with recurrent urinary tract infections (UTI) and obstructive voiding difficulties presented with a perineal cyst. Further examinations, including computed tomography (CT) and puncture, revealed that the patient had a symptomatic Bartholin gland cyst, a phenomenon that normally only affects women.

Introduction: Preoperative imaging by Computed Tomographic Angiography (CTA) has been promoted a gold standard tool for perforator mapping in abdominally based microsurgical breast reconstruction, while Color Doppler Ultrasound (CDU) has lost its popularity. As the CTA X-ray exposure might have long-term consequences for patients, CDU has regained importance for preoperative workup in our center. Our aim was to revisit the role of CDU by comparing the reliability of CDU and CTA in predicting intraoperative perforator selection.

Culture of Bone Biopsy Specimens Overestimates Rate of Residual Osteomyelitis After Toe or Forefoot Amputation.

Background: Guidelines recommend both histological analysis and culture for definite diagnosis of osteomyelitis. It is not clear if histological and culture criteria can be used interchangeably in the clinical scenario of toe amputation. We therefore prospectively compared the results of intraoperative culture and those of histological examination in this setting.
