Pulsotypes of VapA positive Rhodococcus equi isolated from foals and soil on a farm in Germany were characterized on the basis of nasal and tracheal samples simultaneously collected in 2003 from 217 foals with sonographic evidence of pneumonia or pulmonary abscesses.
