Unlabelled: The rates of growth of medically treated abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are difficult to determine, and relationships with parietal inflammation and with metabolic parameters from (18)F-FDG PET remain unclear. This (18)F-FDG PET sequential observational study was aimed at analyzing the metabolic changes accompanying the growth phases of medically treated AAA.

Methods: Thirty-nine patients (37 men; age [mean ± SD], 71 ± 12 y) exhibiting small and medically treated AAA (maximal diameter, 46 ± 3 mm) underwent (18)F-FDG PET and CT angiography at baseline and 9 mo later.

Purpose Of The Report: Imaging of F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) by positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) hybrid systems allows detecting arterial FDG foci, which relate to inflammatory and presumably unstable atherosclerosis, and is increasingly used in cancer patients among whom many are at risk for ischemic events. However, the link between an enhanced arterial FDG uptake and subsequent ischemic events remains to be clearly established. This pilot study aimed at determining whether the prior arterial FDG uptake in cancer patients presenting a subsequent stroke was higher than that of stroke-free controls.

Introduction: Lung cancer, a major application of FDG/PET-CT, has recently been introduced in daily practice in France. The authors retrospectively studied its impact on the management of this disease.

Methods: The results of PET-CT and conventional assessment (brain imaging, chest and abdominal CT and possibly bone scintigraphy) were compared in 94 patients, referred for the staging of non-small cell lung cancer, or the assessment of a solitary lung lesion.
