Extraction of anthocyanins from grape pomace, is a way of valuing these abundant by-products with low added value. Its integration into films may allow it to be used in bioactive packaging, which creates new color and solubility properties for food and smart food packaging which tracks the freshness of fish. Films of arrowroot starch added with different concentrations of grape pomace extract (GPE) were flexible to handle, reddish and presented a high content of anthocyanins.

Li-Fraumeni and Li-Fraumeni-like syndromes (LFS/LFL) are hereditary cancer predisposition disorders associated with germline mutations in the TP53 tumor suppressor gene. Here, we stably expressed LFS/LFL-associated p53 mutants R337H and G245S in p53-null H1299 cells to study their cellular and molecular effects. Mutant proteins showed distinct oligomerization states and opposing effects on cell proliferation and viability.

This quantitative study analyzed female deaths due to agression in the 122 municipalities that are part of the Brazilian borderline. Borders are territories of conquest, conflict and violence and Brazilian border cities have high rates of male and female homicides. Deficiency of 21-hydroxylase enzyme (CYP21A2) represents 90% of cases in congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), an autosomal recessive disease caused by defects in cortisol biosynthesis.
