Analyzing soil in large and remote areas such as the Amazon River Basin (ARB) is unviable when it is entirely performed by wet labs using traditional methods due to the scarcity of labs and the significant workforce requirements, increasing costs, time, and waste. Remote sensing, combined with cloud computing, enhances soil analysis by modeling soil from spectral data and overcoming the limitations of traditional methods. We verified the potential of soil spectroscopy in conjunction with cloud-based computing to predict soil organic carbon (SOC) and particle size (sand, silt, and clay) content from the Amazon region.

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes, characterized by hyperglycemia, is closely linked to obesity and low-grade inflammation. Acute cocoa flavanols (CF) intake has demonstrated benefits in vasoreactivity, cognitive functions, and antioxidant enzyme activity. However, the physiological mechanisms of CF concerning glucose uptake, inflammatory mediators, and their interplay with aerobic exercise remain unclear in populations with metabolic diseases.

Article Synopsis
  • - A new fish species, Schizodon unimaculatus, has been identified in the lower Rio São Francisco of northeastern Brazil, characterized by a unique mouth structure and distinct coloration patterns.
  • - It stands out from similar species due to specific physical features, including scale counts, mouth position, and body proportions, as well as a prominent dark blotch and stripes on its body.
  • - The study delves into the taxonomic relationships of Schizodon species, emphasizing how mouth morphology, color patterns, and quantitative characteristics contribute to their classification.
