Anaesthetic and surgical management of gastric perforation secondary to a diving incident: a case report.

Gastric perforation secondary to barotrauma is a rare surgical condition which may manifest as an acute abdomen and potentially lead to complications such as pneumoperitoneum. A 50-year-old, healthy, experienced diving instructor was transported to our emergency department for an acute abdomen and severe dyspnoea after a diving incident. Clinical suspicion combined with computed tomography scanning lead to the diagnosis of linear rupture of the stomach.

Toward laser-induced tuning of plasmonic response in high aspect ratio gold nanostructures.

High aspect-ratio gold nanostructures sustain Fabry-Perot-like surface plasmon responses from infrared to visible light energies. We show that some resonances can be tuned by means of laser irradiation, where low energy modes stay unperturbed. After laser irradiation, gold nanowires' tips are transformed into nanoparticles of various sizes joint to gold nanowires, producing high aspect-ratio half-dumbbells and dumbbells structures.

Combined laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass reversal and gastric banding to treat severe hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia: A case report and surgical video.

• Non insulinoma pancreatogenous hypoglycemia syndrome is a recently described complication of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. • Currently, there is no Gold Standard treatment. • In this case, we successfully performed a combined laparoscopic reversal of gastric bypass and gastric banding.

Large-area nanoengineering of graphene corrugations for visible-frequency graphene plasmons.

Quantum confinement of the charge carriers of graphene is an effective way to engineer its properties. This is commonly realized through physical edges that are associated with the deterioration of mobility and strong suppression of plasmon resonances. Here, we demonstrate a simple, large-area, edge-free nanostructuring technique, based on amplifying random nanoscale structural corrugations to a level where they efficiently confine charge carriers, without inducing significant inter-valley scattering.

Unusual complication after laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication.

We describe a rare complication of Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication in the presence of a Gastric greater curvature Plication (LNFGP). An overweight 64-year-old woman was admitted for severe abdominal pain, dysphagia and fever 2 weeks after a Nissen fundoplication. She had pneumoperitoneum on scanner.
