The diagnostic landscape of brain tumors integrates comprehensive molecular markers alongside traditional histopathological evaluation. DNA methylation and next-generation sequencing (NGS) have become a cornerstone in central nervous system (CNS) tumor classification. A limiting requirement for NGS and methylation profiling is sufficient DNA quality and quantity, which restrict its feasibility.

Refractory Psychosis as a Red Flag for End of Life in Individuals With Dementia With Lewy Bodies: A Case Series and Re-analysis of Prior Qualitative Data.

Objectives: Many individuals with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) die of disease-related complications, but predicting the end of life can be challenging. We identified a phenotype associated with approaching end of life.

Methods: We present 4 exemplar cases where individuals with DLB experienced refractory psychosis before death.

Pediatric Rectal Prolapse: A Case Report.

In the absence of preexisting conditions, rectal prolapse is rarely seen in children older than four years old. This case report presents a peculiar instance involving a previously healthy five-year-old female who presented to the clinic with her parents due to a three-day history of constipation, hard stools, and painful defecation. Physical examination revealed a rectal prolapse.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for adults with respiratory failure secondary to cardiorespiratory disease: evolving indications and clinical practice.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) can support patients with severe cardiorespiratory failure presenting with hypoxia who would otherwise have not survived. Patient selection for ECMO is challenging and relies on the integration of physiological variables with an assessment of reversibility of the underlying condition or suitability for transplantation. In this review, we focus on patients with cardiorespiratory disease who may present with severe hypoxia.
