Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the Trachea Resulting in Fatal Asphyxia.

Primary malignant tumors of the trachea are uncommon. The authors report a case of a 72-year-old female who died from asphyxia due to an undiagnosed obstructing adenoid cystic carcinoma of the trachea. The decedent became unresponsive while eating cereal and was pronounced upon arrival at the local hospital.

New Frontiers for Conditional Release: Applying Lessons Learned from Other Offenders with Mental Illness.

There is relatively little research in the literature on insanity acquittees as compared with the large number of studies focused on the supervision and treatment of probationers and parolees with mental illness. Ideally, the latter literature could be successfully applied to insanity acquittees discharged from an inpatient hospital on "conditional release." This article describes the challenges faced by persons on conditional release as well as the gaps in extant conditional release literature.

The decedent was transported to the local hospital where he was pronounced. A postmortem examination revealed atherosclerotic heart disease and bilateral pulmonary edema and congestion.
