We implemented universal severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) testing of patients undergoing surgical procedures as a means to conserve personal protective equipment (PPE). The rate of asymptomatic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was <0.5%, which suggests that early local public health interventions were successful.

There were 6 treatments: fresh, never frozen 14 d wet aged (14D); fresh, never frozen 21 d wet aged (21D); blast frozen-fast thawed (BF); blast frozen-slow thawed (BS); conventionally frozen-fast thawed (CF); and conventionally frozen-slow thawed (CS). All frozen beef subprimals were aged for 14 d before freezing.

Factors associated with variation in circulating levels of these peptide hormones remain unclear.
Methods: Multiple linear regression models were used to determine the extent to which sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, personal and family history of chronic disease, and common genetic variants, the (CA)n repeat polymorphism in the IGF1 promoter and the IGFBP3-202 A/C polymorphism (rs2854744) predict variation in IGF1 or IGFBP3 serum levels in 33 otherwise healthy African American and 37 white males recruited from Durham Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Bisphosphonate therapy is a common and effective treatment for Paget's disease of bone, osteoporosis, hypercalcemia of malignancy and cancer metastatic to bone. Clinically significant hypocalcemia has not been reported in patients with Paget's disease of bone and normal parathyroid function treated with an aminobisphosphonate. We treated a 52-year-old woman with polyostotic Paget's disease of bone (serum alkaline phosphatase level-1971 IU/L [normal 31-110 IU/L]), who had not previously received bisphosphonates, with daily oral 30 mg risedronate, oral 1000 mg elemental calcium and oral 400 IU cholecalciferol.
