A Case-Control Study of the Association of Leptin Gene Polymorphisms with Plasma Leptin Levels and Obesity in the Kerala Population.

Background: Over the last few years, the importance of leptin in energy metabolism has been extensively studied in both animal models and in humans. Very few results are available on the association between human leptin gene () variants and obesity traits in India. We designed this study to analyse the polymorphisms in human leptin gene and the association of sequence variants with obesity among the population in Kerala, South India.

Automatic Brain Tumor Classification via Lion Plus Dragonfly Algorithm.

Denoising, skull stripping, segmentation, feature extraction, and classification are five important processes in this paper's development of a brain tumor classification model. The brain tumor image will be imposed first using the entropy-based trilateral filter to de-noising and this image is imposed to skull stripping by means of morphological partition and Otsu thresholding. Adaptive contrast limited fuzzy adaptive histogram equalization (CLFAHE) is also used in the segmentation process.

Metabolic syndrome and its association with obesity and lifestyle factors in Sudanese population.

Although modern life style factors affecting health is a crucial problem globally, little information about metabolic syndrome (MetS) is available for the Sudanese population. With this consideration the study was planned to assess the prevalence of MetS among young people of Sudan and their association with obesity and lifestyle factors. Serum lipid profile, blood glucose and clinically established parameters for obesity were assessed in 179 young adult male and 201 females at National Ribat University, Sudan.

New Echocardiographic Protocol for the Assessment of Experimental Myocardial Infarction in Rats.

Background: The rat infarct model was used extensively to study the pathophysiology of myocardial infarction and to evaluate different therapies. Transthoracic echocardiography is used in rats in order to assess cardiac anatomy and function, being a safe and reliable non-invasive technique. However, studies combining conventional with new echo techniques, such as tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) and speckletracking echocardiography (STE), are lacking.

Affinity of estrogens for human progesterone receptor A and B monomers and risk of breast cancer: a comparative molecular modeling study.
