  • A total of 893 surgeons were studied, with 129 possessing advanced degrees, primarily Master of Science, Master of Business Administration, and Doctor of Philosophy, mostly obtained before medical school.
  • Surgeons with advanced degrees showed significantly higher research productivity, measured by a higher h-index, more citations, and a greater number of publications compared to their peers without additional degrees.
