Background: Large language models (LLMs) provide powerful natural language processing capabilities in medical and clinical tasks. Evaluating LLM performance is crucial due to potential false results. In this study, we assessed ChatGPT and Llama2, two state-of-the-art LLMs, in extracting information from clinical notes, focusing on cognitive tests, specifically the Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE) and Cognitive Dementia Rating (CDR).

With the increasing demand for reduced sugar or sugar-free products by consumers with chronic non-communicable diseases and individuals seeking weight control, foods and beverages with high-intensity sweeteners (HIS) tend to become more common in the market. Therefore, monitoring HIS concentrations added to industrialised products is an important issue. Thus, an analytical method using LC-MS/MS was established and validated in order to allow the simultaneous determination of nine of these compounds in beverages marketed in Brazil.

Background: Microscopic colitis (MC) is a chronic inflammatory condition of the colon, primarily characterized by watery diarrhea, with normal or near-normal endoscopic findings. It encompasses two main subtypes: lymphocytic colitis and collagenous colitis.
Objective: This position paper from the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology aims to review current evidence on the diagnosis and management of MC in Brazil, emphasizing the need for standardization across the country's healthcare systems.
Genetic markers of the Y chromosome are powerful tools for investigating paternal ancestry and are widely used in population and forensic genetics. However, in order to obtain statistics with a higher degree of certainty using these markers, it is necessary to obtain haplotypic frequencies from a representative database, as well as knowing the diversity and structure of the population. The aim of this study was to investigate the genetic diversity of a sample of 1114 unrelated men from three states in the Northeast of Brazil: Paraíba, Pernambuco and Ceará, through the analysis of 23 Y-STRs and to contribute to the expansion of the Brazilian database on these markers.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLow-temperature plasma (LTP) offers a promising alternative for cancer therapy, as it targets malignant cells selectively while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. Upon interaction with an aqueous solution, LTP generates reactive oxygen and nitrogen species and thereby influences the solution's pH, which is a crucial factor in cancer proliferation and response to treatment. This study investigated the effects of LTP on the pH of aqueous solutions, with a focus on the effect of LTP parameters such as voltage, frequency, and irradiation time.
