The fibrotic stroma characterizing pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) derives from a progressive tissue rigidification, which induces epithelial mesenchymal transition and metastatic dissemination. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of matrix stiffness on PDAC progression by analyzing the proteome of PDAC-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs). PDAC cell lines (mPDAC and KPC) were grown on synthetic supports with a stiffness close to non-tumor (NT) or tumor tissue (T), and the protein expression levels in cell-derived EVs were analyzed by a quantitative MS label-free mass spectrometry approach.

Neurofibromin (Nf1) is a giant multidomain protein encoded by the tumour-suppressor gene NF1. NF1 is mutated in a common genetic disease, neurofibromatosis type I (NF1), and in various cancers. The protein has a Ras-GAP (GTPase activating protein) activity but is also connected to diverse signalling pathways through its SecPH domain, which interacts with lipids and different protein partners.

LIM Kinases, LIMK1 and LIMK2, have become promising targets for the development of inhibitors with potential application for the treatment of several major diseases. LIMKs play crucial roles in cytoskeleton remodeling as downstream effectors of small G proteins of the Rho-GTPase family, and as major regulators of cofilin, an actin depolymerizing factor. In this article we describe the conception, synthesis, and biological evaluation of novel tetrahydropyridine pyrrolopyrimidine LIMK inhibitors.

Colfax, Louisiana hosts a commercial hazardous waste thermal treatment (TT) facility, which treats fireworks, explosives, and military ordnances by open-burn/open-detonation one mile from the edge of the nearest community. Seventy-one percent of Colfax's residents are Black, and forty-six percent live below poverty, indicating the community's structural vulnerability. This community-based study originated at the behest of Colfax community members.

A number of studies have demonstrated the role played by political skills on organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs). Other research has also shown how the work environment can affect OCBs. However, no research has yet addressed the role that workplace attachment style plays in influencing employee OCBs.
