Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed and tested a nitrogen-doped single-crystalline 4H silicon carbide (4H-SiC) electrode that can effectively detect dopamine, a key neurotransmitter.
  • The electrode shows high selectivity for dopamine over other substances like uric acid and ascorbic acid, due to unique surface properties and its negative Si valency, enabling consistent quantitative measurements.
  • With a detection limit of 0.05 μM and strong stability, this technology could lead to advanced neurointerface materials for monitoring neurotransmitters in real-time, expanding its potential applications in neuroscience.

In this paper, natural organic honey embedded with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was studied as a resistive switching material for biodegradable nonvolatile memory in emerging neuromorphic systems. CNTs were dispersed in a honey-water solution with the concentration of 0.2 wt% CNT and 30 wt% honey.

In this paper, a comprehensive study was carried out on in-plane silicon (Si) microneedles, a useful tool for transdermal drug delivery and sample collection. Microneedles with eleven designs were investigated by post-complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) compatible microfabrication processes and characterized via pricking tests by insertion in chicken breast flesh. Mechanical strength of all designs were also evaluated by theoretical calculation and finite element modeling (FEM) for bending and buckling analysis.

We developed a retrograde transvaginal-transcervical-transuterine sterilization technique capable of causing occlusive fibrosis and stricture in the human fallopian tube. The procedure is required to induce a lesion at the intramural-isthmic portion of the tube at sufficient depth to damage epithelium underlying the submucosa and inner muscular layer, without acute damage to the outer muscular layer and serosal surface. Nineteen nulliparous purpose-bred cats were induced and maintained in an anestrus state with testosterone cypionate 5 mg/kg intramuscularly and a 6-18-hour light-dark cycle.

Purpose: To describe nonsurgical stent placement to treat subclavian steal syndrome after failure of traditional balloon angioplasty.

Patients And Methods: Seven patients with subclavian steal syndrome underwent diagnostic angiography, which showed four stenoses and three occlusions of the proximal left subclavian artery. Most patients presented with vertigo, left arm claudication, or syncope.
