: The aim of the study was to evaluate the usefulness of vessel wall imaging and MRI in assessment of the post-COVID-19 changes in the brain. VWI is a progressive MRI technique that provides precise imaging of the pathological process in the wall of the vessel. It might help us to better understand the pathophysiology of COVID-19-related neurological lesions and may have an impact on management protocols.

Cardiovascular risk and preclinical atherosclerosis are associated with white matter hyperintensities in apparently healthy adults: the population-based cross-sectional BIALYSTOK PLUS study.

Introduction: White matter hyperintensities, present in patients and asymptomatic individuals, have been previously shown to be associated with atherosclerosis risk factors, such as high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia, smoking, and diabetes.

Objectives: Our aim was to examine the associations between the volume of white matter hyperintensities and cardiovascular risk factors in the general, apparently healthy population.

Patients And Methods: The analysis includes 735 participants (aged 20 to 79 years) without neurological or severe cardiac diseases.

It typically manifests itself with fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, but it can escalate with life-threatening conditions, especially in immunocompromised patients, the elderly, oncologically sick, and even pregnant women. The diagnosis is based on blood and cerebrospinal fluid culture growth, but it presents significant challenges due to deceptive findings and low positivity rates, the golden standard includes molecular diagnostic tests such as real-time PCR and metagenomic next-generation sequencing, which offer higher sensitivity and rapid detection.

Assessment of smell disturbances 6 months after COVID-19 in Polish population.

Considering the frequency and severity of olfactory disorders associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection, attention to the olfactory loss has expanded. The aim of our study was to assess of smell disturbances 6 months after COVID-19. The study population consisted of 2 groups: 196 Post-COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized because of COVID-19, control sample-130 patients without reported smell disorders from general population-Bialystok PLUS study.

Case report: atypical presentation of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis after tick-borne encephalitis.

Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a rare and an immune- mediated inflammatory illness of the central nervous system that normally demonstrates as a monophasic disorder connected with multifocal neurologic symptoms. Herein, we report atypical presentation of ADEM presenting as single lesions in a middle-aged woman after tick-borne encephalitis.
