A 61-year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis on chronic immunosuppression presented with fever. Laboratory studies demonstrated multiorgan failure with pancytopenia, elevation in liver function studies, and an elevated ferritin level, with a diagnosis of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis confirmed on bone marrow biopsy. After initial treatment with chemotherapy, fungal blood cultures grew , prompting initiation of antifungal therapy, which resulted in successful treatment of -associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis.

Upon intense fs-laser excitation, this system can be driven in around 1 ps from the insulating [Formula: see text] reconstructed low temperature phase to a metastable metallic [Formula: see text] reconstructed high temperature phase. Subsequent to the structural transition, the surface heats up on a 6 times slower timescale as determined from a transient Debye-Waller analysis of the diffraction spots.

Recently developed ultrafast time-resolved diffraction techniques combine ultrafast temporal manipulation with atomic-scale spatial resolution and femtosecond temporal resolution. These advances have enabled investigations of photo-induced structural changes in bulk solids that often occur on timescales as short as a few hundred femtoseconds.

A 57-year-old male with a history of alcoholism presented to the emergency room with abdominal pain, jaundice, transaminitis, and hyperbilirubinemia. Due to the history of alcoholism, it was initially presumed that the patient had alcoholic hepatitis but further investigation revealed that he was recently started on sulfasalazine for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Upon cessation of the drug, the patient's liver function tests significantly improved over a few days and eventually normalized within weeks.
