During last years the fast development of food service sector is noticed. In relation to this fact the purpose of this paper was to evaluate the importance of food services in the nutrition of the Polish population. It was stated on the basic of secondary data that inspire of development in the level as well as in service structure the mass feeding don't play such role as in the high developed countries.

This paper describes results of different methods which are used to evaluate food consumption, including eating patterns, in this time of transition. Except for the significant decrease of dairy products and increase of vegetable oils the pattern of the menu in Poland remains very traditional.
