WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE SUBJECT?: Immigrant women in Canada are at greater risk for post-partum depression (PPD) than native-born women. Immigrant women are less likely to have their care needs met as they face multiple barriers to care at both individual and system levels. To date, most PPD research has focused on individual barriers to care, with limited research examining organizational and system level barriers and the uniqueness of immigrant women's post-partum health experiences.

The case is reported of a young atopic woman with combined Type I and possible Type IV allergy to human seminal plasma, as well as Type-I allergy to latex. Clinical symptoms were swelling and a burning sensation on the vulva and in the vulvovaginal area during or after coitus, followed by vesiculation, lichenification and the development of generalized eczema. Diagnosis was confirmed by investigation (RAST, prick testing, histology).

The entire population of the Umgeni Waterfall Institution for mentally retarded Whites was karyotyped using aceto-orcein and ASG banded preparations. Of the 512 subjects, 376 were males and 136 were females. Their ages ranged from 1 to 72 years and mental retardation ranged from borderline to profound.
