Presented are the experiences with new wound dressings in the treatment of open wounds and burns in traumatologic surgery. The foam-gel-film stimulates secondary healing wounds in the development of granulation tissue and the gel-film is used as a wound dressing after skin transplantation and in burns.

This paper refers to the case published in "Handchirurgie" 14, 109-113 (1982). The author has conducted a critical analysis of the original records and of the literature. He concludes that the diagnosis is one of necrosis of the lunate (Kienböck's disease), not os lunatum partitum.

Twenty anastomoses of the aorta of rats were performed; the anterior and the posterior wall were sutured alternately with absorbable and not absorbable microsurgical suturing material 10-0. Histologic examination of the anastomosis and examination by electron raster microscope clearly showed the superiority of the absorbable suturing material. The difficulty to discern the suture by microscope has to be regarded as a disadvantage.

Absorbable and non-absorbable suture materials were compared in microsurgical end-to-end-suture of the aorta in rats. Individual differences in tissue reaction were excluded by using the different materials in the same animal and the same organ. The use of absorbable suture materials needs longer practice as it is difficult to handle.
