Sweet's syndrome (SS) is a relatively rare dermatological condition typically presenting with erythematous tender plaques, papules, nodules, or pustules accompanied by fever, asymmetric polyarthralgia, and other systemic features. Elevated inflammatory markers and white blood cell counts are also commonly seen in SS. Dense neutrophilic infiltration in the dermis is a cardinal feature of SS.

The article examines two seemingly unconnected occurrences at the nineteenth-century north east frontier of British India. The first is the production of a pathological space via moral, social, and cultural codes enacted by medical topographies on the region since the first Anglo-Burmese war (1824-1826) and the subsequent rise of disease thinking. The second is the ambivalence in disease thinking that is brought to fore through the mysterious malady called kala azar (visceral leishmaniasis), which was geographically designated as Assam fever.

Supported Rh single-atoms and clusters on CeO, MgO, and ZrO were investigated as catalysts for hydroformylation of ethylene to propionaldehyde and CO hydrogenation to methanol/ethanol with / diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). Under hydroformylation reaction conditions, spectroscopic investigations unravel the presence of both single atoms and clusters and detected at first propanal and then methanol. We find that the formation of methanol is associated with CO hydrogenation over Rh clusters which was further confirmed under CO hydrogenation conditions at elevated pressure.
