The Pre-Medical Health Coach (PHC) program: pre-medical students as volunteer health coaches at a safety-net hospital in California, 2016-2020.

Background: The volunteer Pre-Medical Health Coach (PHC) program engages student volunteers, in team-based primary care providing self-management support to patients with chronic conditions. Both the PHCs and the patients they serve are diverse. The aims of this study are to assess the impact of the PHC program on student outcomes and patient biomarkers.

The Impact of Home Enteral Tube-Feeding on the Intent and Experience of Going Out in Public: A Qualitative Study on Patients' and Caregivers' Perspectives.

Background: Individuals on tube-feeding experience significant lifestyle changes and social isolation, but the barriers and support for travelling out while on tube-feeding to reintegrate into the community have not been studied. This research explores the factors influencing the decisions of individuals on tube-feeding and their carers to travel outside of their homes, their experiences, and perceived barriers and support when performing tube-feeding in public settings.

Methods: A qualitative design using purposive sampling explored the experiences of three individuals and five carers living at home on long-term tube-feeding.

Quality of Life Outcomes With a Risk-Based Precision Testing Strategy Versus Usual Testing in Stable Patients With Suspected Coronary Disease: Results From the PRECISE Randomized Trial.

Background: The PRECISE (Prospective Randomized Trial of the Optimal Evaluation of Cardiac Symptoms and Revascularization) trial compared an investigational precision diagnostic testing strategy (n=1057) with usual testing (n=1046) in patients with stable chest pain and suspected coronary artery disease. Quality of life (QOL) outcomes were a prespecified secondary end point.

Methods: We assessed QOL by structured interviews in all trial participants at baseline and 45 days, 6 months, and 12 months postrandomization.
