An increasing population in conjunction with a changing climate necessitates a detailed understanding of water abundance at multiple spatial and temporal scales. Remote sensing has provided massive data volumes to track fluctuations in water quantity, yet contextualizing water abundance with other local, regional, and global trends remains challenging by often requiring large computational resources to combine multiple data sources into analytically-friendly formats. To bridge this gap and facilitate future freshwater research opportunities, we harmonized existing global datasets to create the Global Lake area, Climate, and Population (GLCP) dataset.

The un-cooled lasers have wall-plug-efficiencies of up to 9.5% at powers of 6 mW.

The demonstrated device has a compact active region of 1.0 × 55 μm(2), an insertion loss of 5 dB and an extinction ratio of 6 dB at wavelength of 1550 nm.

The demonstrated device has a flat-top filter shape, on chip loss of 5.0 dB, low PDL of 0.

Here we demonstrate 1-2 GHz-bandwidth filters with very high extinction ratios (~50 dB). The silicon waveguides employed to construct these filters have propagation losses of ~0.
