N 6-Methyladenine (m6A) RNA methylation plays a key role in RNA processing and translational regulation, influencing both normal physiological and pathological processes. Yet, current techniques for studying RNA methylation struggle to isolate the effects of individual m6A modifications. Engineering of RNA methyltransferases (RNA MTases) could enable development of improved synthetic biology tools to manipulate RNA methylation, but it is challenging due to limited understanding of structure-function relationships in RNA MTases.

The ultra-high affinity transport proteins of ubiquitous marine bacteria.

SAR11 bacteria are the most abundant microorganisms in the surface ocean and have global biogeochemical importance. To thrive in their competitive oligotrophic environment, these bacteria rely heavily on solute-binding proteins that facilitate uptake of specific substrates via membrane transporters. The functions and properties of these transport proteins are key factors in the assimilation of dissolved organic matter and biogeochemical cycling of nutrients in the ocean, but they have remained largely inaccessible to experimental investigation.

Patient and provider perspectives on pain and other dimensions of anesthesia experience for cesarean delivery: A qualitative study.

Background: There is a lack of evidence on the importance of pain or other aspects of clinical care in the overall patient experience and patient-centered outcomes in cesarean delivery. The purpose of this study was to discover patient priorities in cesarean delivery anesthesia experience, to compare patient and provider perspectives, and to explore attitudes on shared decision-making around anesthesia choices for cesarean delivery.

Methods: Patients with recent cesarean deliveries and clinical care providers were approached using a purposeful sampling strategy for this prospective observational qualitative study.

Uncertainty in the global carbon (C) budget has been reduced for most stocks, though it remains incomplete by not considering aquatic and transitional zone carbon stocks. A key issue preventing such complete accounting is a lack of available C data within these aquatic and aquatic-terrestrial transitional ecosystems. Concurrently, quantifiable results produced by restoration practices that explicitly target C stock accumulation and sequestration remain inconsistent or undocumented.

Assessing understandings and perceptions of HIV cure among peer navigators and treatment officers in Australia.

HIV community peer navigators and treatment officers are important sources of information and guidance for people living with HIV. We conducted an anonymous online survey with members of the treatment outreach network of the Australian National Association of People Living with HIV. The survey explored understandings and acceptance of HIV cure research and was disseminated before and following an interactive workshop on HIV cure.
