Patients' Perceptions of the Efficacy, Safety, and Quality of the Evidence of Medicinal Cannabis: A Survey of Australian Cancer Patients.

Introduction: Despite the increased demand for medical cannabis (MC), MASCC guidelines state that there is insufficient evidence of its efficacy and safety. Although research has explored medical professionals' perceptions of MC, there is to our knowledge minimal research exploring patients' perceptions, particularly in an Australian cancer setting.

Methods: A survey of Australian cancer patients attending oncology outpatient clinics was performed.

Nanopasta: electrospinning nanofibers of white flour.

White flour may be directly electrospun, providing a starch nanofiber alternative which avoids unnecessary industrial extraction and purification. By dissolving 17 wt% flour in warm formic acid and cooling, a dope can be created which can be electrospun into porous mats of 372 nm fibers of pasta.

FtsN coordinates synthesis and degradation of septal peptidoglycan by partitioning between a synthesis track and a denuded glycan track.

The cell division protein FtsN was proposed to coordinate septal peptidoglycan (sPG) synthesis and degradation to ensure robust cell wall constriction without lethal lesions. Although the precise mechanism remains unclear, previous work highlights the importance of two FtsN domains: the E domain, which interacts with and activates the sPG synthesis complex FtsWIQLB, and the SPOR domain, which binds to denuded glycan (dnG) strands, key intermediates in sPG degradation. Here, we used single-molecule tracking of FtsN and FtsW (a proxy for the sPG synthesis complex FtsWIQLB) to investigate how FtsN coordinates the two opposing processes.

Five-Year Mortality Outcomes for Eating As Treatment (EAT), a Health Behavior Change Intervention to Improve Nutrition in Patients With Head and Neck Cancer: A Stepped-Wedge, Randomized Controlled Trial.

Purpose: Malnutrition affects up to 80% of patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) and is associated with higher burden of disease, poorer treatment outcomes, and greater mortality. The Eating As Treatment (EAT) intervention is a behavioral intervention previously demonstrated to be effective in improving nutritional status, depression, and quality of life in patients with HNC. This article examines the effects of the EAT intervention on 5-year mortality among participants.

Situational anxiety in head and neck cancer: Rates, patterns and clinical management interventions in a regional cancer setting.

Introduction: Research indicates that the immobilisation mask required for radiation therapy (RT) for head and neck cancers can provoke intense anxiety. However, little is known about the rates of this anxiety, whether it changes over a course of treatment and how it is managed in clinical practice. This study aimed to describe the rates and patterns of situational anxiety in patients undergoing RT for head and neck cancer and the use of anxiety management interventions in current clinical practice in a major regional cancer setting in New South Wales, Australia.
