ZnO with Different Morphologies Sensitized by Metalloporphyrins as Catalysts for H Production by Water Splitting Under Sunlight.

In this work, zinc oxide with different morphologies and textural properties were prepared and sensitized with metalloporphyrins (MPs) aiming to improve its solar energy harvesting capability for H production by water splitting under sunlight (a 300 W Xe/Hg lamp). An anionic iron(III)porphyrin and a cationic manganese(III)porphyrin were immobilized on different ZnO solids predominantly by electrostatic interactions. In general, the prepared MP-free ZnO solid yielded modest catalytic results which had apparently no direct correlation with their textural properties or morphology.

Trophic guilds and niche segregation among marine megafauna in the Bay of Biscay.

The structure and functioning of ecosystems are largely determined by the interactions between species within a biological community. Among these interactions, species exhibiting similar vertical and spatial prey preferences can be identified, thereby belonging to the same trophic guild. Our study explored some trophic characteristics of a diverse megafaunal community (cetaceans, tunas, seabirds) in the Bay of Biscay (BoB).

Light exposure of tetra-cationic porphyrins containing peripheral Pd(II)-bipyridyl complexes and the induced effects on purified DNA molecule, fibroblast and melanoma cell lines.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) combines a light source, oxygen, and a photosensitizer (PS) to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) for treating diseases. In this study, we evaluated two meso-tetra-pyridyl porphyrins with [Pd(bpy)Cl], namely 3-PdTPyP and 4-PdTPyP, as PS for PDT application. DNA interaction was assessed by spectroscopic measurements (UV-Vis and fluorescence emission), viscosity analysis, and molecular docking simulations.

[A successful multidisciplinary approach to a recurrent ischiorectal fossa sarcoma].

Ischiorectal fossa tumors are rare lesions, mostly described in case reports or case series. These lesions represent a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. Hence, an appropriate preoperative study and multidisciplinary discussion are essential to achieve good oncologic and functional results.
