Unless better measures are put in place to address the environmental and social impacts emanating from the huge waste generated from sea food processing industries; 'tragedy of the commons' is inevitable. Needless to re-emphasise the enormous contributions of aquaculture as the perfect substitute to capture fisheries which has been proven unsustainable. Be that as it may, the huge amount of bio-waste produced could be transformed into useful products such as chitin and chitosan with far reaching applications.

Dietary lipid manipulation in the feed of commercially cultured finfish is used not only to improve production and culture but also to enhance their reproductive performances. The inclusion of lipid in broodstock diet positively affects growth, immunological responses, gonadogenesis, and larval survival. In this review, existing literature on the importance of freshwater finfish species to aquaculture and the inclusion of dietary lipid compounds in freshwater fish feed to accelerate the reproduction rate is being summarized and discussed.

The major sources of waste from aquaculture operations emanates from fish or shellfish processing and wastewater generation. A simple technique called coagulation/flocculation utilizes biowaste from aquaculture to produce chitosan coagulant for wastewater treatment. A chemical method was applied in the present study for chitin and chitosan extraction from carapace of and subsequent application for removal of turbidity and salinity from shrimp aquaculture wastewater.

PRP methods for production of WBC-poor red blood cell (RBCC) and platelet concentrates (PC) are investigated using top-and-bottom bags and Optipress separators. A standard centrifugation method (profile A) and 2 methods (profiles B and C) for a computer run centrifugation using 21 (profile B) or 19 (profile C) varying time segments and g numbers. An MS-DOS-compatible personal computer runs a Cryofuge 6000.
