Feasibility and Acceptability of Nurse-Led Primary Palliative Care for Older Adults with Chronic Conditions: A Pilot Study.

Background: Many older adults live with serious illness for years before their death. Nurse-led primary palliative care could improve their quality of life and ability to stay in their community.

Objectives: To assess feasibility and acceptability of a nurse-led Transitional Palliative Care (TPC) program for older adults with serious illness.

Care coordination: Identifying and connecting the most appropriate care to the patients.

Although nurses are increasingly expected to fulfill the role of care coordinator, the knowledge and skills required to be an effective care coordinator are not well understood. The purpose of this study was to describe the knowledge and skills required in care coordination practice using an interpretive phenomenological approach. Fifteen care coordinators from 10 programs were interviewed over a 6-month period.

Quasi-experimental evaluation of a substance use awareness educational intervention for nursing students.

This article reports on a study that evaluated the effectiveness of an educational intervention, Addressing Nurse Impairment, for addressing nursing students' knowledge acquisition, changes in self-efficacy to intervene, and changes in substance abuse stigma. A gap exists in nursing students' education regarding the risks of addiction within the profession and how to handle a colleague suspected of having a substance use disorder. The seminar was adapted from an existing evidence-based prevention program called Team Awareness, as well as information from focus groups and a pilot test.

[Substantiation of clinical application for hernioplasty of reticulate prosthesis with antimicrobial properties].

A new reticulate hernioprosthesis has been developed and proposed for clinical use. The adhesive high molecular polymer coating containing silver nanoclusters was applied on the lavsan network. After implantation the polymer was dissolved in the tissue fluid and formed the hollows between the threads facilitating invasion of the connective tissue into the network.

[The clinical trial of a Russian membrane plasma filter in patients under therapy].

35 procedures of plasmofiltration were conducted on the test series of domestic membrane plasmofilter in 25 patients suffering from atopic diseases, systemic affections of connective tissue, advanced atherosclerosis, etc. The filter proved promising in therapeutic patients. The procedure is easier to perform compared to centrifuge plasmapheresis, it can work under thin blood flow.
