Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are highly endemic in poorer countries of the world. The research investigated the prevalence of parasitic infections among children in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Benin City. Faecal, urine and blood specimen were collected from 184 children (100 males and 84 females) aged 6-15.

Pattern of Accidental Childhood Poisoning at the Children Emergency Room of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City, Nigeria.

Background: Accidental childhood poisoning contributes significantly to childhood morbidity and mortality worldwide. A review of the agents which cause poisoning in our locality from time to time is important in planning prevention strategies and treatment modalities.

Point-of-Admission Serum Electrolyte Profile of Children less than Five Years Old with Dehydration due to Acute Diarrhoea.

Background/objective: Fluid, electrolytes and acid base disturbances are responsible for most deaths due to acute diarrhoea. The aim of this study is to describe the point-of-admission serum electrolyte profile of children with dehydration due to acute diarrhoea.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the serum electrolyte levels of 185 children with dehydration due to acute diarrhoea were assessed at the point of admission at the Diarrhoea Treatment and Training Unit of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.

CardioPulmonary Resuscitation in Children: Outcome in a General Intensive Care Unit in Nigeria.

Background: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is the initiation of basic and advanced life support to restore spontaneous circulation after cardiac arrest. It is one of the most frequently performed procedures in the intensive care unit both in the adult and paediatric population.
