Polarization in research: What is it, why is it problematic, and how can it be addressed?

Polarized research has become a problem for the trustworthiness and applicability of scientific results. Accordingly, this paper addresses three key questions: 1) What is polarization in scientific research? 2) Why is such polarization problematic? 3) How can the problem be addressed? The first question is addressed by describing how the polarization has been characterized in the literature and by analysing an example before assessing existing definitions and elaborating a definition of polarization. The second question is answered by describing challenges with polarization found in the literature.

Clozapine is an atypical antipsychotic (neuroleptic) drug. Clozapine binds to H-histamine receptors in vitro. We wanted to test the hypothesis that clozapine might be a functional antagonist at human cardiac H-histamine receptors.

Low-value imaging: concept analysis and definition.

Background: While there is an extensive literature on low-value imaging, there is no agreed definition of the concept. However, a clear and consistent definition of low-value imaging is crucial for providing comparable and targeted research, and for increasing the quality, safety, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of imaging services. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to provide a definition of low-value imaging.

Comparison of antithrombogenic coated and uncoated flow diverters in ruptured and unruptured cerebral aneurysms.

Background And Purpose: Flow diversion has become a key treatment option for complex intracranial aneurysms. Recent advancements include coated flow diverters (FDs), designed to potentially reduce the need for dual antiplatelet therapy, thereby removing the associated secondary risks while maintaining patency and low complication rates. Comparing coated and uncoated FDs may offer insights into long-term outcomes and treatment optimization.

Private practice dentists' conceptions of overtreatment: A qualitative study from Norway.

Objective: As overtreatment has gained attention and is a threat to sustainable healthcare, the objective of this study is to investigate Norwegian private practice dentists' conceptions of overtreatment.  Material and Methods: Six private practice dentists were interviewed. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed by thematic analysis in a six-step process including coding and identifying main- and sub-themes.
