Objectives: The Surgical Intervention for Traumatic Injuries (SITI) scale is intended to predict the likelihood of needing surgical decompression among patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). We sought to examine the performance of the SITI score to predict likelihood of acute neurosurgical intervention for children with TBI.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional, retrospective, observational study of children diagnosed with TBI as determined by International Classification of Diseases codes, presenting to a single level 1 pediatric trauma center, between June 1, 2003, and May 31, 2018.

Mutations that affect RNA splicing significantly impact human diversity and disease. Here we present a method using transformers, a type of machine learning model, to detect splicing from raw 45,000-nucleotide sequences. We generate embeddings with residual neural networks and apply hard attention to select splice site candidates, enabling efficient training on long sequences.

Objective: Individuals' Sense of Coherence (SOC) is measured with the Orientation to Life Questionnaire (OLQ-13). SOC reflects a person's orientation to life and ability to manage stress, which can impact health. The aim of the study was to test the reliability and construct validity of the OLQ-13, with self-reported general and oral health as criterion measures, in a Norwegian general adult population.

Background And Purpose: We aimed to evaluate polyethylene (PE) wear, cup migration, and clinical outcome over 10 years in total hip arthroplasties (THA) using different articulations.

Methods:  This is a secondary analysis of 150 patients randomized into 5 groups, using different articulations: Charnley/Charnley Ogee for steel and conventional polyethylene (CPE), or Spectron EF/Reflection with either CPE or highly cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) cups, paired with heads made of either cobalt-chromium (CoCr) or oxidized zirconium (OxZr). All cups were cemented.
