Towards Preclinical Validation of Arbaclofen (R-baclofen) Treatment for 16p11.2 Deletion Syndrome.

A microdeletion on human chromosome 16p11.2 is one of the most common copy number variants associated with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. Arbaclofen, a GABA(B) receptor agonist, is a component of racemic baclofen, which is FDA-approved for treating spasticity, and has been shown to alleviate behavioral phenotypes, including recognition memory deficits, in animal models of 16p11.

Potential of endophytic fungi collected from Cucurbita pepo roots grown under three different agricultural mulches as antagonistic endophytes to Verticillium dahliae in western Washington.

Verticillium dahliae is a significant pathogen in cucurbit cropping systems for which there are limited control options outside of soil fumigation. Endophytes, fungi and bacteria that live within plant hosts without impacting the host negatively, have exhibited antagonism to V. dahliae.

Assessing student knowledge, confidence, accuracy, and proficiency in providing Medicare Part D assistance.

Purpose: To assess the impact of coordinated didactic, simulation-based, and experiential learning on pharmacy students' knowledge and confidence with Medicare Part D and their accuracy and proficiency with the Medicare Plan Finder Tool.

Educational Activity: Forty-two pharmacy students participated in a two-semester Medicare Part D elective course in which didactic, simulation-based and experiential learning methods were employed. Students' knowledge, confidence, accuracy, and proficiency were assessed at three course time points: first day of class, last day of in-class education, and after completion of outreach.
