Background: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a type of cancer characterized by a vast intracellular accumulation of lipids that are critical to sustain growth and viability of the cells in the tumour microenvironment. Stearoyl-CoA 9-desaturase 1 (SCD-1) is an essential enzyme for the synthesis of monounsaturated fatty acids and consistently overexpressed in all stages of ccRCC growth.

Methods: Human clear cell renal cell carcinoma lines were treated with small-molecule inhibitors of protein kinase CK2.

The objective of this opinion was to determine if any wild caught fish species, originating from specific fishing grounds and consumed in the EU/EFTA could be considered free of zoonotic parasites. In this Opinion the term 'fishery products' only refers to fresh finfish. As there are multiple fish species and numerous potential parasites, sp.

Background: Protein kinase CK2 is a highly conserved enzyme implicated in the pathogenesis of various human illnesses including obesity. Despite compelling evidence for the involvement of this kinase in the pathophysiology of obesity, the molecular mechanisms by which CK2 might regulate fat metabolism are still poorly understood.

Methods And Results: In this study, we aimed to elucidate the role of CK2 on lipid metabolism by employing both in vitro and in vivo approaches using mouse pre-adipocytes and a mouse model of diet-induced obesity.

Lower limb exoskeletons represent a relevant tool for rehabilitating gait in patients with lower limb movement disorders. Partial assistance exoskeletons adaptively provide the joint torque needed, on top of that produced by the patient, for a correct and stable gait, helping the patient to recover an autonomous gait. Thus, the device needs to identify the different phases of the gait cycle to produce precisely timed commands that drive its joint motors appropriately.

African swine fever virus (ASFV) infection causes a frequently fatal disease in domestic swine that has affected more than 50 countries worldwide since 2021, with a major impact on animal welfare and economy. The development of effective vaccines or antivirals against this disease are urgently required for its effective control. Live detection of viral replication has been used as a tool for the screening and characterization of antiviral compounds in other dsDNA genome containing viruses.
