Although a disease is defined as rare when it has a prevalence of less than 1:2000, the overall prevalence of rare diseases in the population is greater than 1%. Among potential organ donors, a similar frequency is observed. Aim Of The Study: CD326 has been used as a single marker to enrich for hepatic stem cell populations in the liver. However, bile duct epithelium is also positive for CD326, which impedes the selection of pure hepatic stem cell populations. Some markers have been proposed to be co-expressed by hepatic stem cells but these have not been systematically compared.

Background: We compared, through the European Liver Transplant Registry, long-term liver transplantation outcomes with prolonged-release tacrolimus (PR-T) versus immediate-release tacrolimus (IR-T)-based immunosuppression. This retrospective analysis comprises up to 8-year data collected between 2008 and 2016, in an extension of our previously published study.

Methods: Patients with <1 month follow-up were excluded; patients were propensity score matched for baseline characteristics.

Introduction: Carbapenem-resistant enterobacteriaceae (CRE) infections are difficult to treat and pose a serious threat to solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. At our institute we observed an infection burden in 2012.

Methods: In order to contain the spread of CRE infections, we established a taskforce to implement guidelines suggested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for this type of outbreak.
