Continuous professional development of nurses and ICNP introduction in Poland.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to explore Polish nurses' readiness to use the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP) as part of continuous professional development and life-long learning.

Material And Methods: The study included 772 nurses, divided into 2 study groups. The first group comprised those who had participated in a course enhancing the knowledge and improving skills in the use of ICNP terminology (N = 457).

Donate a Piece of Liver: Is This an Option Accepted by Future Nurses of Pomeranian Medical University in Poland?

Background: Liver transplantation from living donors (LLD) has become a viable and important source of liver grafts. The objective of this study was to analyze the attitude of nursing students at the Pomeranian Medical University in Poland on donation of live liver, and to determine the factors that affect it.

Methods: Academic year 2011-2012, nursing students at a university in Poland, sampling points in 5 compulsory-attendance nursing courses with a completion rate of 80%, validated questionnaire (PCID-DVH Rios) filled out anonymously and self-administered.

Looking for New Alternatives: What Nursing Students of Lodz's Medical University in Poland Think About the Use of Organs Coming From Animals?

Background: The shortage of organs has made it necessary to look for new alternatives as xenotransplantation. The objective of this study was to analyze the attitudes of Polish nursing students toward organ donation of nonhuman origin, and to determine the factors that affect them.

Methods: Year 2011-2012.

A case study of the introduction of the International Classification for Nursing Practice(®) in Poland.

Introduction: The development of a nursing practice, improvements in nurses' autonomy, and increased professional and personal responsibility for the medical services provided all require professional documentation with records of health status assessments, decisions undertaken, actions and their outcomes for each patient. The International Classification for Nursing Practice is a tool that meets all of these needs, and although it requires continuous evaluation, it offers professional documentation and communication in the practitioner and researcher community.

Aim: The aim of this paper is to present a theoretical critique of an issue related to policy and experience of the current situation in Polish nursing - especially of the efforts to standardize nursing practices through the introduction and development of the Classification in Poland.

Evaluation of chosen determinants of the positive practice environments (PPE) at Polish nursing wards.

Background: At many Polish hospitals, insufficient attention is given to positive work environment. In many cases nurses, similarly to the representatives of other professional groups, are not provided with facilities or tools to perform their professional tasks in safe conditions. The aspects of recruitment and retention of employees are often ignored.
