Evaluation of hymenal adhesions resection in the treatment of recurrent post-coital cystitis.

Objective: To describe and evaluate the technique of hymenal adhesions resection in the treatment of recurrent post-coital cystitis.

Materials And Methods: Monocentric retrospective observational study including patients operated for hymenal adhesions resection between 2013 and 2020. The indication was based on the association of 4 conditions: at least 3 episodes of documented cystitis per year, a post-coital rhythm, a failure of preventing hygienic and dietary rules, a negative etiological assessment except for the existence of hymenal adhesions.

[Whipple's disease: a curable encephalitis].

Introduction: Whipple's disease is a rare systemic infectious disorder. It may present with a wide range of clinical manifestations and therefore its diagnosis may be challenging.

Case Report: We report a 45-year-old man who presented with acute encephalitis related to Whipple's disease.

Phenotypic and genetic characterization of macrolide resistance in Francisella tularensis subsp. holarctica biovar I.

Objectives: Francisella tularensis subsp. holarctica strains are classified as biovars I and II, which are susceptible and naturally resistant to the macrolide erythromycin, respectively. The present study was aimed at both selecting biovar I strains with increased levels of erythromycin resistance and characterizing the underlying genetic mechanisms.

Quantitative real-time PCR tests for diagnostic and prognostic purposes in cases of legionellosis.

The usefulness of two quantitative real-time PCR assays (qrt-PCRmip targeting Legionella pneumophila, and qrt-PCR16S targeting all Legionella species) performed on lower respiratory tract (LRT) samples for diagnostic and prognostic purposes in 311 patients hospitalized for community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in Rhône-Alpes (France) was evaluated. The Now Legionella urinary antigen test (UAT) from Binax (Portland, ME, USA) was used as a reference test. Samples were divided into two groups.
