The needs of older adults living in long-term care in Nova Scotia and across Canada are frequently ignored. There is historical precedent for this, as the voices of the poor and vulnerable have been under-represented throughout history. This paper aims to summarize the history of long-term care in Nova Scotia, Canada from its 17th-century origins to the end of the 20th century.

Four cleft lip/palate groups were cephalometrically compared with a noncleft control group using three cranial base dimensions: anterior (ACB) and posterior (PCB) cranial base, and cranial base angle (CBa). The groups were compared by age from 7 to 18 years. The results showed that the cleft lip and/or alveolus group was not different from the control group in the three dimensions.
