Bats, which play a vital role in maintaining ecosystems, are also known as natural reservoirs of coronaviruses (CoVs), thus have raised concerns about their potential transmission to humans, particularly in light of the emergence of MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2. The increasing impact of human activities and ecosystem modifications is reshaping bat community structure and ecology, heightening the risk of the emergence of potential epidemics. Therefore, continuous monitoring of these viruses in bats is necessary.

Real-world effectiveness and safety of bulevirtide monotherapy for up to 96 weeks in patients with HDV-related cirrhosis.

Background And Aims: Bulevirtide (BLV) 2 mg/day is EMA approved for treatment of compensated chronic hepatitis due to Delta virus (HDV) infection, however real-life data in large cohorts of patients with cirrhosis are lacking.

Methods: Consecutive HDV-infected patients with cirrhosis starting BLV 2 mg/day since September 2019 were included in a European retrospective multicenter real-life study (SAVE-D). Patient characteristics before and during BLV treatment were collected.

Achieving inter- and transdisciplinarity in Ecohealth: insights from a rodent-borne disease project in a polycrisis era.

Introduction: Inter- and transdisciplinary research (ITDR) is increasingly promoted to address "wicked problems", particularly in health sectors adopting approaches like Ecohealth. Our Ecohealth-inspired project on rodent-borne diseases, initiated just before the COVID-19 pandemic, provided an opportunity to evaluate ITDR implementation.

Methods: We employed a recently developed semi-quantitative evaluation method to measure our project's success in achieving ITDR and analyzed factors influencing this achievement.

Ultrasound imaging of the femoral and saphenous nerves.

Introduction: Iatrogenic and traumatic injuries to the femoral and saphenous nerves, and their branches are uncommon but can be a cause of clinically pertinent lower limb dysfunction and neuralgia. Despite this, direct sonographic imaging of these nerves is not commonly requested or performed.

Methods: A review of the literature regarding the detailed relative anatomy, sonographic technique to image these nerves and their branches and their normal and abnormal appearances was conducted.

Demonstrating the statistical and pharmacological sensitivity of nonclinical QTc analysis using a dofetilide dose-response in nonhuman primates.

Nonclinical QTc studies can augment clinical QTc assessments in regulatory submissions provided they are of sufficient quality and sensitivity. Both the statistical performance and species translation play a role in determining the sensitivity of the model. The current analyses examine the effects of dofetilide or vehicle on the QT interval in nonhuman primate (NHP; n = 16) using a one-step estimated marginal means method where both treatment and animal ID are used in regression models to avoid a separate rate correction step, in comparison to other commonly utilized methods.
