This work reports a new bone substitute made of precipitated apatite crystals that resemble in composition and crystallinity to the mineral phase of bone. The bone regeneration capacity of this synthetic biomimetic calcium phosphate (SBCP) was studied by using an original model of vertical bone regeneration with cups on the calvaria of rats.
