In brief: Wrestlers face a significant risk of injury and of contracting skin infections and respiratory and systemic illnesses. Because annual injury rates as high as 75% have been reported in wrestling, medical personnel should be present at all competitions. The article briefly describes mechanisms of injury and provides treatment guidelines for lacerations, cauliflower ear, and injuries to the spine, extremities, and ribs.
