Aim: Hyperactivity, impulsivity and poor attention are the core problems of ADHD and central stimulant medication is the preferred treatment. Many children with ADHD also display motor problems. Background: A previous study showed that a high percentage of children diagnosed with Hyperkinetic Disorder (HKD) displayed a consistent pattern of motor function problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of methylphenidate (MPH) on such motor performance in children with HKD METHODS: 25 drug-naïve boys, aged 8-12 yr with a HKD-F90.0 diagnosis, were randomly assigned into two groups within a double blind cross-over design, and tested with a motor assessment instrument, during MPH and placebo conditions.

The purpose of the study was to investigate incidence, severity and types of motor problems in two groups of poor readers compared to good reading controls. A group of children with severe dyslexia referred to specialist evaluation, a teacher selected municipality sample comprising the 5% poorest readers, and a control group consisting of the 5% best readers were all assessed applying a norm-based, standardized measure by Henderson and Sugden 1992; (The Movement Assessment Battery for Children. The objective of this study was to evaluate cognitive functions, changes over time, and prenatal, perinatal, and neonatal predictors in low birth weight children. A cohort of 130 low birth weight children was compared with 131 control children. A neuropsychologic test battery including subtests from the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised and the Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities, Knox Cube Test, Grooved Pegboard Test, Finger, and Foot Tapping was used.
