Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare workers with less formal education (eg, nursing assistants and home care aides) vs more formal education (eg, physicians and nurses) were more likely to experience economic insecurity, the real and/or perceived risk of financial losses. Given the unprecedented impact of COVID-19 on healthcare workers, we sought to describe economic insecurity among these workers during the pandemic. Using data from the U.

Purpose: To compare the biomechanical performance of a suture with proposed dynamic self-tensioning properties with that of commonly used high-tensile sutures by evaluating suture loop length changes, responses to cyclic loading, and failure testing with intermittent saline soaks.

Methods: Six knots each of 4 different sutures were studied: 3 high-tensile sutures (ORTHOCORD, FiberWire, and ETHIBOND), and a dynamically self-tensioning suture (DYNACORD). After we measured loop length, knots were soaked in 37°C saline for 24 hours.

Noroviruses are a leading cause of gastroenteritis worldwide, yet the molecular mechanisms of how host antiviral factors restrict norovirus infection are poorly understood. Here, we present a CRISPR activation screen that identifies mouse genes which inhibit murine norovirus (MNV) replication. Detailed analysis of the major hit Trim7 demonstrates a potent inhibition of the early stages of MNV replication.
