Long-term electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring is crucial for detecting and diagnosing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Monitoring cardiac health and activities using efficient, noninvasive, and cost-effective techniques such as ECG can be vital for the early detection of different CVDs. Wet electrode-based traditional ECG techniques come with unavoidable limitations of the altered quality of ECG signals caused by gel volatilization and unwanted noise followed by dermatitis.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on optimizing the preparation of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for light transmittance aggregometry (LTA) in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients taking clopidogrel and ticagrelor.
  • Researchers initially tested their protocol on healthy individuals before including CAD patients, using specific centrifugation techniques to prepare PRP and platelet-poor plasma (PPP).
  • Results showed significant differences in maximum platelet aggregation and platelet volumes among controls and the two medication groups, indicating the optimized PRP preparation could be beneficial for routine measurement of platelet function in cardiology clinics.
