Posterolateral corner and arcuate fractures can cause significant disruption to the stability and kinematics of the knee. This study aimed to determine the biomechanical performance of a novel spiked washer (SW) and intramedullary screw technique compared with a tension slide technique (TST) for the repair of arcuate fractures. Sixteen matched fresh-frozen cadaver knees underwent repair.

The suture combination of a Krackow stitch plus a whipstitch can be used to strengthen a tendon rupture repair. We compared biomechanical outcomes of suture repair techniques for distal biceps tendon ruptures using a single Krackow stitch with and without a whipstitch and a whip-stitch alone. Data were obtained from 36 thawed porcine flexor profundus tendons.

Quadriceps tendon rupture is typically repaired using either transosseous tunnels or suture anchors. Recent literature has suggested that suture anchor repair is biomechanically superior to the use of transosseous tunnels. Augmentation of the transosseous technique with Nice knots may result in improved biomechanical properties as compared with a suture anchor construct.

Background: Delayed-onset carpal tunnel syndrome (DCTS) can develop weeks and months after distal radius fracture (DRFx). A better understanding of the risk factors of DCTS can guide surgeon's decision making regarding the management of DRFx and also provides another discussion point to be had with elderly patients when discussing outcomes of nonoperative management.

Methods: We reviewed 216 nonoperatively managed DRFx between June 2015 and January 2019 at a single level 1 trauma center and senior author's office.

glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), encoded by , is a glycolytic enzyme that is associated with virulence and immune-mediated protection. However, the role of GAPDH in cellular cytokine responses to , bacterial phagocytosis and colonization of the female reproductive tract, a central host niche, is unknown. We expressed and studied purified recombinant GAPDH (rGAPDH) of in cytokine elicitation assays with human monocyte-derived macrophage, epithelial cell, and polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) co-culture infection models.
