An outdoor reduced-scale canyon street was set-up in Angers, France, to study the impact of well-watered trees on urban microclimate and human comfort, with an integrated approach of the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum. Data were acquired during 26 days in summer 2020. The street is oriented north-south, with an aspect ratio of 1.

Bipolar disorder (BD) is a leading cause of disability worldwide, as it can lead to cognitive and functional impairment and premature mortality. The first episode of BD is usually a depressive episode and is often misdiagnosed as major depressive disorder (MDD). Growing evidence indicates that peripheral immune activation and inflammation are involved in the pathophysiology of BD and MDD.

This paper investigates the effect of a finite-sized crack surface on acoustic emission (AE) generated at the crack tip in a thin metallic plate using a 3D time-domain finite element model. Directivity effects on the first arrivals are of particular focus, and the AE is interpreted in terms of a guided mode decomposition. Crack lengths from 0-10 plate thicknesses are studied, in addition to a semi-infinite crack surface, for frequency content in the neighborhood of 0.

Plant architecture determines yield (fruit or flowers) and product quality in many horticultural species. It results from growth and branching processes and is dependent on genetic and environmental factors such as light quality. Highly significant genotype and light quality effects and their interaction have been demonstrated on the architecture of rose.
