Purpose: Pediatric eye injury (PEI) is the leading cause of preventable monocular vision loss in children, with an estimated prevalence of 5.7 million cases. Epidemiological information on PEI is rare, skewed towards high-income countries, and commonly overlooked by non-governmental ophthalmological organizations.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCD133 mesenchymal cells were enriched using magnetic microbead anti-CD133 antibody from bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNCs). Flow cytometry and immunocytochemistry analysis using specific antibodies revealed that these cells were essentially 89 ± 4% CD133(+) and 8 ± 5% CD34(+). CD133(+)/CD34(+) BMMNCs secrete important bioactive proteins such as cardiotrophin-1, angiogenic and neurogenic factors, morphogenetic proteins, and proinflammatory and remodeling factors in vitro.

The experience of treatment of 32 patients with diffuse peripheral arterial diseases was analyzed. All patients underwent the by-pass surgery with the formation of unloading arterio-venous fistulas. Indications to the formation of A-V fistula was the high peripheral resistance of the vascular wall.
