Educational escape rooms within health sciences education are gaining traction as a unique and engaging game-based strategy for reviewing instructional content. Educational escape rooms cultivate valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to apply knowledge under time pressures. While several studies have independently assessed learners' knowledge gains after educational escape room interventions, the present work meta-analyzes the efficacy of educational escape rooms across studies and student learners within health sciences education.

Increased inflammasome protein expression identified in microglia from postmortem brains with schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia (SCZ) is a complex psychiatric disorder that involves an inflammatory response thought to be characterized by microglial activation. The inflammasome complex may play critical roles in the pathomechanism of neuroinflammation but how this relates to SCZ remains unclear. In this study, we performed an immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis to compare the expression of inflammasome proteins in brain tissue from donors with SCZ (n = 16) and non-psychiatric donors (NP; n = 13) isolated from the superior frontal cortex (SFC), superior temporal cortex, and anterior cingulate cortex brain regions.

VISIBL-MS: A bilingual educational framework to increase awareness of early multiple sclerosis.

Background: Despite advancements in treatments of multiple sclerosis (MS), there is a lack of awareness of early MS symptoms, especially in students and the public, contributing to delays in diagnosis and treatment. This review aims to identify gaps in tools to increase awareness and to provide a bilingual framework to facilitate recognition of early MS symptoms.

Methods: We performed a literature review to determine the use of English and Spanish mnemonics in MS education for medical students and patients.
