Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been detected in multiple animal species, including white-tailed deer (WTD), raising concerns about zoonotic transmission, particularly in environments with frequent human interactions. To understand how human exposure influences SARS-CoV-2 infection in WTD, we compared infection and exposure prevalence between farmed and free-ranging deer populations in Florida. We also examined the timing and viral variants in WTD relative to those in Florida's human population.

A lingering question regarding genetic rescue in wildlife conservation is how long beneficial effects persist in admixed populations. Using data collected over 40 years from 1192 endangered Florida panthers (Puma concolor coryi) across nine generations, we show that the experimental genetic rescue implemented in 1995-via the release of eight female pumas from Texas-alleviated morphological, genetic, and demographic correlates of inbreeding depression, subsequently preventing extirpation of the population.

The purpose of this paper is to describe the development and implementation of a project that utilized a holistic pain assessment framework and introduced new order sets to guide the integration of nonopioid, opioid, and co-analgesics in a quaternary care medical center.
Methods: An interdisciplinary team updated policies and procedures for pain assessment and opioid administration and created new analgesic order sets for both adult and pediatric patients.
Objective: This study describes program implementation through a research-restaurant partnership and assesses participant satisfaction, program costs, and percent body weight changes.
Methods: Participants (n = 60) in a virtual synchronous (n = 43) or virtual asynchronous (n = 17) 12-week plant-based nutrition program received restaurant vouchers. Class satisfaction data were collected weekly.
