The interplay between the dysbiotic microbiota and bile acids is a critical determinant for development of a dysregulated immune system in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Here we have investigated the fecal bile acid metabolome, gut microbiota composition, and immune responses in IBD patients and murine models of colitis and found that IBD associates with an elevated excretion of primary bile acids while secondary, allo- and oxo- bile acids were reduced. These changes correlated with the disease severity, mucosal expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, and reduced inflow of anti-inflammatory macrophages and Treg in the gut.

Purpose: The objective of the present study is to investigate nasal and oral vowel production in French-speaking children with cochlear implants (CIs) and children with typical hearing (TH). Vowel nasality relies primarily on acoustic cues that may be less effectively transmitted by the implant. The study investigates how children with CIs manage to produce these segments in French, a language with contrastive vowel nasalization.

Advancements in imaging and molecular techniques enable the collection of subcellular-scale data. Diversity in measured features, resolution, and physical scope of capture across technologies and experimental protocols pose numerous challenges to integrating data with reference coordinate systems and across scales. This resource paper describes a collection of technologies that we have developed for cross-modality 3D mapping for the alignment of transcriptomics at the micron scales of genes and cells to the anatomical tissue scales.

Evidence is lacking on the impact of bilingualism on the speech skills of children with cochlear implants (CIs). This study described the speech production of children with CIs acquiring French and one or more additional spoken languages. Four groups of children aged 4-11 were included: bilinguals (n = 15) and monolinguals (n = 14) with CIs and bilinguals (n = 14) and monolinguals (n = 20) with typical hearing.

Aims: Although dual antiplatelet therapy with aspirin and a potent P2Y12 receptor inhibitor is currently recommended in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), its use in elderly patients remains challenging. The aim of this trial is to evaluate the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic profile of ticagrelor 60 vs. 90 mg twice daily among elderly patients (≥75 years) with ACS undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
