Simultaneous integrated boost intensity-modulated radiation therapy targeting clinically involved extramesorectal lymph nodes in locally advanced rectal cancer: A retrospective study.

Aim: Consensus is lacking regarding the management of extramesorectal lymph nodes (EMLN) in rectal cancer. Using simultaneous integrated boost intensity-modulated radiation therapy (SIB-IMRT), we targeted involved EMLN and reserved lateral pelvic lymph nodal dissection (LPLND) for nonresponders. The primary aim of this work was to determine the proportion of patients who avoided LPLND and to establish the pathological EMLN positivity rate.

The Impact of Inflammatory Cytokines on Recurrent Pregnancy Loss: A Preliminary Investigation.

Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL), defined as two or more consecutive miscarriages before 20 weeks of gestation, affects 1-2% of couples worldwide. Pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 play critical roles in early pregnancy, while anti-inflammatory cytokines like TGF-β and IL-10 promote immune tolerance to prevent harmful inflammatory responses that play important role in placental and fetal development. This aim of the study is to analyse the levels of inflammatory cytokines in blood serum from RPL patients and healthy women (control).

Quantum leap in the diagnosis of oral potentially malignant disorders - A review of literature.

Early diagnosis of oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) can bring about considerable improvement in reducing the statistics related to morbidity and mortality associated with oral cancer. The objective of this review was to summarize advanced diagnostic aids used for OPMDs. Pubmed, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials electronic databases from 1969 to 2022 focus on advanced diagnostic techniques for potentially malignant disorders.

Learning curve and proficiency assessment for gynecological brachytherapy amongst radiation oncology trainees in India: Results from a prospective study.

Purpose: The quality of cervical cancer intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT) depends on the training and experience of the radiation oncologist (RO). The present study was performed to establish primary learning curve for ICBT.

Materials And Methods: Forty-three skill parameters were identified for performing ICBT and were included for Brachytherapy Proficiency Assessment and Scoring System (Brachy-PASS) questionnaire.

Motion mapping and positioning of lumbrical muscles in the carpal tunnel-a cadaveric study.

Aims And Objectives: Dynamic incursion of lumbrical muscle proximal to the distal edge of transverse carpal ligament (TCL) has been long debated for its role in causing median nerve compression in the carpal tunnel. This study aims to evaluate the pattern of lumbrical incursion into the carpal tunnel in various finger positions and determine their extent of presence and relationship with respect to the TCL and to each other in the carpal tunnel.

Materials & Methods: Dissection of 30 fresh frozen cadaveric hands was done to map the lumbrical muscles.
